Catherine McKinnon – short listed for the Miles Franklin Prize 2018!

Author Catherine McKinnon

Bellingen  Writers Festival had such a great line up that we worked non stop over two days recording  15 authors and here’s the first – the wonderful book  by Catherine McKinnon.  So good, it has been shortlisted for this year’s Miles Franklin Award!

Storyland, is set in one place but told by different characters  across history . Catherine chose to read from the last story, which is set in a a not too distant future where the changing  climate has altered the landscape and produced a disaster.

Let’s hear Catherine read this extract first, which starts with someone receiving therapy to recall events.

Special half hour editions of Narratives are now being broadcast every week on Monday evenings at 7.05pm   on the Community Radio Network.

Sometimes I will have space on my show Arts Canvass to play these but not all of them and there are some fantastic author’s reads and interviews on these shows.

SO, you can go to the PODCASTS page on my Narratives Library website and listen there, on your phone, tablet or computer.

First up this week is Hannah Kent with ‘The Good  People’ and Robert Drewe with ‘Whipbird‘.

We are contemplating developing an special Narratives App so you can just log in and listen anywhere on your phone and tablet. Let me know if this idea appeals to you! (Also let me know if you would like to be sponsor of this project – I can take up to four depending on level of support. )

COMING SOON -Narratives National AND Narratives Podcasts!

From October we have an exciting new development  for the Narratives Library!

We will be producing a half hour show for distribution nationally through the Community Radio  Network.

But so no-one misses out on the broadcasts, after they have gone to air  they will be posted on this site as Podcasts on their own special page.

Each episode will feature two ( sometimes one or three!) authors  in interview and reading from their own work. With some terrific music breaks in between.

We hope you will enjoy these special productions which enlarge the scope of the library and enable us to bring you more insight into reading, writing and authors.
